One resolution that I can tell you about, is my goal to review all of my stamping plates. I've purchased oh so many stamping plates over the last couple of years and somehow I never find the time to review them. Most often I get delayed in hopes of creating a few manicures before writing a review and then end up not posting at all.
My goal this year is to post a stamping plate review every Saturday or every other Saturday as time allows. Hopefully this will be one resolution I can stick to! Once I get a few reviews under my belt, I plan to add a tab at the top of the page for reference and to show what's to come. I'm really excited about this feature and I hope you will enjoy it as well!
I'll start today with a review of the most recent MoYou plates to join my collection. You can see the rest of my MoYou plates here.
If you are not familiar with MoYou London stamping plates, they are 6x12cm (edge to edge, not including the plastic backing). They have a protective blue plastic cover which needs to be removed prior to stamping...
Each plate is mounted on a white plastic backing. The back features the MoYou London logo. These plates feel very solid and sturdy. The plastic backing ensures that you will not be cutting yourself on any sharp metal edges....
MoYou London full nail design plates are available in regular and XL size. The regular sized images measure 12x15mm. The XL images are 15x21mm. My nails happen to fall in between the two sizes (about 16-17mm in length) so I often have to make the tough decision of whether I want to order the regular or XL size and you'll see a mix of both here. MoYou London stamping plates are generally excellent stamping quality and I've never had issues transferring images from these plates.
There are lots of different collections available and obviously when it comes down to it, it is all about personal taste. I wish my budget would allow me to collect them all, but as that is not the case, I had to settle for a few favorites...
Bridal Collection - 06
Full of gorgeous lace patterns, I just couldn't resist this plate. I chose to get the regular sized images in this case because I wanted to ensure I got as much detail on my nails as possible. Since many of the images don't have a straight edge (at least one that isn't straight), I'm not too worried about them falling a millimeter or two short...
Fashionista Collection - 07
I'm a huge sucker for damask patterns. I can't seem to have enough of this style of plates in my collection. My only wish with this plate is that the 1st four images in the top row were regular size. As they are right now, I know I won't be able to get all that detail onto a single nail...
Festive Collection - 06
I love all the holiday sweater patterns on this plate. Once again, I went with the smaller (regular) size images to get the most detail possible onto my nails, realizing that some of these images (like the gift box in the top row), I won't be able to use. The sweater patterns that don't have a straight edge, will work well even if my nails are a few millimeters short. You can see a manicure using this plate here.
Kaleidoscope Collection - 10
I adore just about every pattern on this plate. Once again, I went with smaller images for similar reasons that I've listed above and in a soapbox rant here. I think these images will work with a pretty half-moon so I'm not worried about them being a bit short. Hopefully I can accent them with freehand nail art. Mother Nature Collection - 07
I got this plate a little too late to really make use of it in the Fall, but it will definitely get some love later this year! I see a lot of potential for leaf decals and just straight stamping here!
Sailor Collection - 08
How adorable are all of these sea creatures? I can't wait to create some aquarium or ocean looking manicures with these.
Tourist Collection - 13
This plate most certainly had to be mine! It speaks to my heritage and I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. All of it is just perfect. When this plate first came out, the word Москва (Moscow) was misspelled, but MoYou quickly fixed the error based on customer feedback. Gotta love a company that listens to their customers!
I purchased all of these plates directly through the MoYou London website, but they are available from other stockists as well. The plates retail for £4.99 each. You can occasionally come across coupon codes or free shipping deals from MoYou for a bit of a savings.
