L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime - Petal Cleansing Oil

What about a new cleanser? and what about a super gorgeous cleansing oil that includes real petals flaoting in it?

L'Occitane has release a new luxurious cleansing oil in its Pivoine Sublime line. Let's have a look at it! In addition there are also 2 moisturizing masks available as unidoses that were launched at the same time and I have tried one of them.

Pivoine Sublime - Petal Cleansing Oil

CLAIMS
"Infused with real peony petals from Provence, this oil glides over the skin to help effectively and gently remove impurities, leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated. The Peony Cleansing Oil’s refined, non-comedogenic formula gently cleanses, whilst its velvety texture leaves skin silky smooth and complexion more radiant and glowing."

HOW IT LOOKS / FEELS / SMELLS
This is a medium thickness cleansing oil. The scent is delicate and warm (sorry I can't describe it better) and it is subtle.

It easily removes sunscreen, foundation and makeup and is easy to wash off with water. There is no need to follow up with a second cleanser.
I say it removes makeup very well because I can sometimes feel tiny grains of dirt rolling on my face when I massage it. I first thought they were grits but I rather think it's either dust or the makeup that is breaking down when I massage the oil. That's not something I get with every oil that I've tried and I must say that it feels rather satisfying and it makes me believe it provides a real deep cleanse.
Anyway, my face feels clean but not dry after washing it off with water and that's why I really like it.

INGREDIENTS
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Isoproyl isostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Paeonia Albiflora Flower, Paeonia Lactiflora Extract, Tocopherol, Fragrance

The base oil of this cleansing oil is sunflower seed oil which is a great non-fragrant plant oil that works as an emollient and that is able to break down lipophilic products. It is also able to dissolve oily residues on your face.
Cleansing oils are great for oily skin because they gently remove the excess sebum without stripping the skin of its natural oils and also great for dry skin because oils are moisturizing. So everyone can benefit from an oil-based cleanser.
The other ingredients are a surfactant (PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate) that is important if you want to wash the oil away with water; emollients (Isoproyl isostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride); Peony extracts which are antioxidant (1) but I haven’t found many papers about it; tocopherol (vitamin E) that is an antioxidant used used as a preservative to prevent oils from going rancid; and fragrance.

Pivoine Sublime - Petal Cleansing Oil
Overall, I like this cleansing oil because it is able to remove every last trace of makeup, it's gentle and doesn't dry out my skin. As a bonus I love the packaging and the inclusion of petals in the oil, it makes it extra special and luxurious. Oh yes, the texture feels also amazing on the skin, it is not too thick nor too thin but just like how I like cleansing oils. That's a product I could repurchase.

Flash Moisture Mask

CLAIMS
"Specifically designed for women on-the-go, the Flash Moisture Mask offers a quick absorption for instant results! Enriched with essence of Peony, it immediately quenches skin's thirst and infuses it with moisture. Its rich and creamy formula nourishes and plumps skin for a glowy and luminous complexion. Perfectly moisturized, supple and velvety, the skin glows with a fresh and natural beauty."

HOW IT LOOKS / FEELS / SMELLS
This mask has a gel-cream texture that leans more towards the cream side. The mask feels moisturizing but not heavy, it stays rather lightweight. It's easy to spread on the skin, it has a nice slip and feels indeed "thirst-quenching". There is a scent but it's sublte.

You're supposed to use a thick layer and after 15-20 min, wipe off the excess. For me it has a typical sleeping mask texture and feel so I used it rather  as a sleeping mask, i.e. as the last step in my skincare routine before going to bed. I used only a small amount (I prefer using a small amount so that there is no excess product to wipe off after 15-20 min) and was able to use this capsule 4 times (I stored the capsule in a larger jar to keep it fresh).
Even if you use a thick layer, I think you could use it at least twice since there is quite a lot of product in the capsule. Alternatively you could use it also on your neck, cleavage and hands.

INGREDIENTS
Water, Triheptanoin, Glycerin, Coco-caprylate/Caprate, Corn Starch Modified, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Paeonia Lactiflora Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Arachidyl Alcohol, Phenoxyehtanol, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucoside, Xylitylglucoside, Ethylhexylglycerin, Anhydroxylitol, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Xylitol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Citric Acid, Silica, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopherol, Fragrance, Limonene, Linalool, CI 77491/Iron Oxides.

This maks is made of water, emollients, humectant, and functional ingredients (surfactants, viscosity modifying agents). It does contains Peony extract and sunflower seed oil, which are antioxiant and moisturing, respectively.

Flash Moisture Mask
Overall, this is a nice moisturizing mask that works perfectly as a sleeping mask, at least that's how I enjoyed using it. It moisturizes the skin very well and makes it supple and more elastic. The idea of a monodose is great for when you travel for a weekend or when you're on a short business trip.
