Jessica Sutta's "Again"

It seems like Nicole Scherzinger is not the only former Pussycat Doll trying to get her solo career off the ground. Jessica Sutta, dance diva in training, is back on the music scene with a brand new single from her upcoming debut album, Sutta Pop, set for release sometime this year. "Again" feat. DJ/producer Kemal Golden comes two years after Sutta scored a Billboard Hot Dance Charts with the spectacular and slightly addictive "Show Me". While "Show Me" featured a hardcore attitude, Sutta goes for a traditional dance/pop ballad for the new release. The production is loud and dance floor appropriate, but the lyrics and vulnerable vocal performance paint a not-so-happy picture for the female artist. With one dance hit under her belt already, it seems Sutta is ready to be back at the top of the charts once again. "Again" has a good chance at getting her there.

Sutta proved she could be a dance vixen in 2011, but for 2013 she is trying something a little different. She understands her strengths within the dance genre and releases a new song that should please the masses. "Again" starts off slow, with an intro about strength and perseverance, however, that all changes once the chorus comes through and the production gets turned up a notch. It seems she found the love she was searching for in "Show Me", but the significant other did not turn out to be all she wanted. "And then you do it again, cause you need it to feed the sensation," Sutta sings on the soaring chorus. It seems like she needs to kick that man out her life if he gets a kick out of hurting her.

Yes, the production and synth beats sound like they have been heard a million times before, but for some reason they seem to fit perfectly for Sutta's range and musical presence. "Again" is a strong release from a girl who never got her chance to really shine in an all-girl music group. The new track makes it perfectly clear that Sutta is capable and deserving of venturing off on her own. There is a sense of empowerment, but also a fear of vulnerability and the idea of accepting the love we think we deserve. Yes, that is a Perks of Being a Wallflower quote. Will "Again" be another dance hit for the ex-Pussycat Doll turned 2013's new dance floor queen? I'm going to say... "Duh"! The song hit iTunes on March 26, get yourself a copy.
