Hello everyone,
Last fall, two new permanent shades – Ashton and Allison, were added to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick collection. Because I am such a big hoarder of lipsticks, I went ahead and purchased the shade “Ashton” because it looked really interesting. I had heard mixed reviews of this liquid lipstick formula and hence I decided to try it out myself. So let’s get started with the review of “Ashton.”
Product Description:
What it is: A long-lasting, full-coverage matte lipstick in liquid form.
What it does: Liquid Lipstick’s ultra-saturated liquid formula delivers an intense amount of matte pigment in a single swipe. Just one application leaves lips with smear-resistant coverage that stays put for hours.
What else you need to know: “This long-lasting formula is a must-have for every busy woman on the go.” – Anastasia Soare.
Price:
CAD 26 plus taxes.
My Experience with Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Ashton:
Packaging: This lipstick comes in a typical transparent tube with the brand name printed on the front and shade name at the bottom of the tube. It comes with a doe-foot applicator which I prefer as it serves the purpose of a lip brush and makes the application very precise and effortless.
Color: This particular shade, “Ashton” is described as a mid-tone yellow brown. It has slightly warm undertones and settles down to a complete matte finish within seconds. On my NC42 skin tone, it is the perfect MLBB shade but it would look a lot darker and browner on fair skinned beauties. In bright daylight, it almost looks like a peachy neutral shade on my pigmented lips, but depending on the lighting, it might sometimes pull mauve undertones too.
Texture: The texture was neither too drying nor too moisturizing. It almost comes out like a whipped mousse-like texture but settles to a complete matte finish very quickly, but your lips must be exfoliated properly or else it might exaggerate and settle into fine lines.
The formula is opaque in one swipe and stayed for a good 6-7 hours on my lips after which I noticed fading on the inner part of the lips. I did not notice any overpowering fragrance. To take the final specks off of your lips, you need makeup remover which proves its great lasting power.
Pros of Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Ashton:
- Love this shade – perfect MLBB shade.
- Opaque coverage in a single swipe.
- Not streaky.
- Lasting power is satisfactory.
- Ease of use.
- Sits very nicely on lips – no bleeding.
- Could be drying but it could be avoided by prepping your lips well.
- Many different shades available in this range to choose from.
Cons of Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Ashton:
- Doesn’t fade evenly.
- Might feel dry and uncomfortable on lips if not used in conjunction with a lip balm.
- Might accentuate fine lines.
IMBB Rating:
4/5
It does meet my expectations and justifies the price tag. It is the perfect everyday shade for me and I get a lot of use out of it. But there are so many other liquid lipstick formulas out in the market that I would want to try. Hence I wouldn’t be repurchasing it.
Would I Repurchase Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Ashton?
