LOOKBOOK : Reiss a/w 2011

I'm not normally one for Reiss, but I keep hearing off readers and friends that they get the occasional keeper from there, so I decided to add a few of their images from their a/w collection. The usual high street trends crop up once again, but I decided to steer clear and pick out the trends interpreted in an interesting way - like the above side split - ladies, you have been warned the 90's/00's trend is back - and this time, it's taking no prisoners. Expect to book a good wax - they really are cut that high....
Wide legged trousers remain in Reiss for another season, but this time its extreme wide legged trousers! Be cautious with these, one false move and it's head over tit in the smoking area of a posh Dublin nightclub for you, amusing to everyone bar you, your martini and your pride.
Ah the shaggy 70's faux fur jacket, I once bought one of these in Topshop in 2006/7 - I brought it straight back as I felt there was little room in my wardrobe for it (also it was a 200 euro and I felt guilty) and I thought prehaps the Limerick locals would find me good target practice. Nothing ruins a good fur coat like fag burns and chewing gum....
Mixed textures. I really like this. I don't know why I seem to be leaning towards brown leather of late, well, any colored leather then just plain black. It seems like a more mature and grown up way to wear leather - more grown up then my usual leather jacket thrown over my Iron Maiden Tee. Also there is something nice about mixing leather with unusual textures like this cable knitted jumper - it just seems so easily put together - even though as a trend it isn't. It takes ages to get the right mix - get it wrong and it looks exactly that - wrong.
There is of course the usual array of body con dresses for which Reiss remain a popular high street brand. I don't do body con as a rule, given that I am larger then required for this trend (aka - I eat and wear a size bigger then 0) but if your a fan of all that clings - then you'll find plenty more where that came from
